Nalbohor have lifted the first ever Mathiura Union Village Cup.
The 7 a side football tournament organised by Mohammed Zossim Uddin, Kamal Hussain and Abdul Hamid of Mathiura Sporting Club featured ten teams representing the Mathiura Parishad of Beanibazar from the Sylhet District of Bangladesh.
There is a large community in the United Kingdom and the day saw a sizeable representation in attendance throughout.
Nalbohor defeated Purushpal in the final at the Robert Clack Centre in Dagenham, with the winning goal by Al Sajid ingeniously crafted by Beanibazar legend Abdul Wadud.
Shahidul Uddin and Al Sahir of Nalbohor were respectively named goalkeeper and player of the tournament.
One of the highlights of the day included Dudbokshi youngster Ihsan Yusuf expertly executing a Panenka penalty against Duakha to reach the last four.
Managers Abdul Wahid and Shahidul Uddin spoke after securing the win for Nalbohor, “This is a lot more than football and events like this unite people and help us celebrate our heritage. Thank you to the organising committee for organising such a splendid day for everyone.”
