Ayna Arts warmly welcomes you to Chrysalis, a refreshing and light-hearted comedy exploring the often overlooked topic of menopause. This engaging new play follows the journey of five women who choose to be kind to themselves as they navigate this transformative stage of life. What begins as a story of silence and misunderstanding blossoms into one of celebration, empowerment, and self-acceptance.
The women, each from a different cultural background, grapple with menopausal symptoms in various settings, from home and workplace to social circles. Facing dismissal and isolation, they find solace and strength in a support group, where storytelling becomes their healing force. Through sharing their experiences, they move from being victims of circumstance to active creators of their own futures. Together, they reclaim their identities, and voices, redefining what it means to grow older with dignity and joy.
As the play unfolds, humour and heart intertwine, capturing the universal experience of womanhood. The finale sees the women adorned in vibrant colours—visible, vocal, and victorious—proclaiming that menopause is not an ending but a bold beginning.
Ayna Arts, a dynamic community theatre group, continues its mission to empower individuals and spark conversations through performance. Dedicated to bridging generations and cultures, the company particularly encourages participation from BAME communities and emerging audiences.
