Capital Kids Cricket has marked it’s 25th Anniversary with a special event, attended by CKC President, Nasser Hussain OBE, at the CKC Community Hub in Whitechapel, Tower Hamlets.

The event was also marked with a special 35th Anniversary cake that was cut by Nasser and children from the junior clubs.

During the event, Nasser Hussain unveiled the CKC 2023-24 Impact Report, which showcases the organisation’s key achievements, community outreach, and contributions to the sport over the past year. The report provides an in-depth overview of CKC’s efforts to empower the next generation of cricketers, offering opportunities to children and youth in London’s most deprived communities. It also highlights CKC’s ongoing initiatives in education, diversity, and sustainability.

Among the distinguished guests were Angus Fraser, former England fast bowler and current Managing Director of Middlesex Cricket in the Community, several Mayors, Speakers from various London boroughs, county and ECB representatives, corporate partners, project participants, supporters, funders, and friends of CKC.

Former England captain, Nasser Hussain said: “It’s an honour to be part of CKC’s 35th-anniversary celebrations. This organisation has been a beacon of community cricket, and I am excited to share CKC’s impact over the past year with the wider cricketing world. The diversity and inclusion within CKC are remarkable, and many cricket organisations could learn from CKC’s model of connecting with the community.”

CKC CEO, Shahidul Alam Ratan, honour: “I am thankful to CKC for giving me the opportunity to lead and for supporting my vision of delivering cricket in a way that puts young people, coaches, and the community first.

“Adaptability is one of the key elements everyone understands, ensuring that facilities are not a barrier. This was made possible because the whole organisation and staff aligned with our approach, focusing not on overplanning but on delivery, while ensuring that safety and safeguarding come first.

“I appreciate the support from our partner organisations and funders over the 16 years I’ve worked with CKC. I especially want to thank our funders, our Chief Patron, Lady Victoria Getty, and our President, Nasser Hussain OBE, for their ongoing support.”

The event concluded with John Barcley thanking all those who attended and celebrating the organization’s legacy and future.
