Heathway Cycle Lane Transformation Brings Disruption to Dagenham

Barking and Dagenham Council has begun a three-month transformation programme, running from June to August, aimed at improving cycling infrastructure and creating a greener, safer environment for residents.

The council has developed a four phase roadmap and timeline, which includes new cycle tracks, more pedestrian friendly pavements, improved road safety measures and brighter, greener public spaces. The wider aim appears to be encouraging sustainable travel while helping to protect the environment.

However, the changes have also caused disruption within the local community, including bus diversions and concerns about how long the works are taking to complete.

Saleem Patel, said the council would “make every effort to minimise disruption”.

If you regularly travel through Heathway, it may be worth planning ahead and considering alternative routes as the works continue.
