The Shadwell Dragons made waves this weekend at Fairlop Waters, capturing gold medals in both the men’s and women’s divisions of the highly anticipated Al Noor Boat Race 2025. The annual event brought together over 60 teams from across the country and raised more than £400,000 for charitable causes.

This year’s regatta showcased not only fierce competition, but also the power of community action, with thousands gathering to support the event’s mission of fundraising and unity.

The Shadwell Dragons Men’s Team blazed through the competition with a final time of 00:51:24, the fastest recorded across all categories. Their blend of strength, precision, and team spirit secured them a decisive victory.

“We raced with pride and purpose – for each other, and for everyone back home who believes in us,” said a team spokesperson.

Runners-up in the men’s final included:
• Chadwell Heath Dragons – Silver (00:53:61)
• MSN Brothers – Bronze (00:57:08)

The Shadwell Dragons Women’s Team delivered an equally powerful performance, taking gold with the fastest women’s time of the day at 00:01:07:14. Their unity and discipline set the tone from the heats to the final.

“This was more than a race. It was a statement of what women can achieve when we move together,” said one of the team’s rowers.

Women’s podium results:
• Al Aqsa Warriors – Silver (00:01:08:66)
• MSN Sisters – Bronze (00:01:08:94)

The Al-Noor Boat Race continues to be a cornerstone community event, blending competition with cause. This year’s funds will support a range of vital projects, including clean water access, education, and humanitarian aid.

The Shadwell Dragons extended thanks to the Al Noor Foundation, organisers, and the many volunteers who brought the day to life.

“This event proves what can happen when communities come together. The atmosphere, the generosity, the spirit was unforgettable,” one of the rowers added.

The Shadwell Dragons are open to new members all year round. Whether you’re new to paddling or looking to race competitively, the club provides a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
