The countdown is underway for the annual Freedom Cup 2026, a celebration of football, community spirit and the enduring values of freedom and unity.

Organised by the Inner London Football League (ILFL) in partnership with 50Active Club UK, the seven a side tournament will take place on Sunday, 28 June 2026 at Mabley Green, Lee Conservancy Road, London E9 5RL, bringing together players, families and supporters for a day of competitive football and cultural pride.

Established to strengthen community bonds through sport, the Freedom Cup has become a flagship event within the London Bangladeshi community. The tournament honours the spirit of Bangladesh’s liberation while using football as a platform to connect people of all ages and backgrounds.

This year’s competition will feature three categories: Open Age, Veterans 35+, and Veterans 50+, providing opportunities for players across generations to participate.

Beyond the action on the pitch, the event will celebrate community heroes, promote friendship and showcase the unifying power of grassroots sport.

Organisers hope the tournament will continue to inspire participation, encourage healthy lifestyles and strengthen relationships between communities through shared experiences and mutual respect.

Nanu Miah, Chair of the Inner London Football League, said: “The Freedom Cup is both a football tournament and celebration of our heritage, our community and the values that unite us. Through football we bring people together, build friendships and create opportunities for different generations to connect. We look forward to welcoming teams, supporters and honoured guests for another memorable day of sport and community spirit.”

With football, culture and community at its heart, the Freedom Cup 2026 promises to be another memorable occasion celebrating pride, participation and togetherness.
