The event has its roots in 2022, when Imrul Gazi and Misbah Mahfujur established Amar Sylhet Charity Football Tournament to raise money for people affected by flooding in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh.
Since then, the tournament has continued to grow, combining competitive football with a strong commitment to charitable causes.
This year’s tournament will raise funds towards the repair of a mosque in Nobigonj, Bangladesh, with all money raised going towards the project.
For Imrul Gazi, who is also first team manager of Frenford FC, the tournament represents the continuing power of football to bring people together and make a positive difference.
He said: “Amar Sylhet was created through football, friendship and a desire to help people. Five years on, it is fantastic to see 14 teams coming together from London and beyond.
“We want the tournament to be competitive on the pitch, but its real success is measured by the difference we can make through charity and community. Football gives us a platform to unite people and help others.”
With seven teams in each group, the 2026 draw promises a full afternoon of football, rivalry and community spirit, while continuing the Amar Sylhet tradition of using the beautiful game to support people and causes beyond the pitch.
