Runners Set for Scenic Thames-Side Challenge
Henley-on-Thames, Saturday 5 September 2026
Runners of all ages will head to the picturesque surroundings of Henley-on-Thames on Saturday 5 September for the Henley River Trail Half Marathon, 10K and Junior Race, organised by RunThrough.
The event will be staged at Remenham Farm, Remenham Lane, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 3DB, with the venue providing a memorable setting close to the River Thames and associated with the famous Royal Henley Rowing Regatta. The event runs from 9am until midday.
The programme offers three different challenges, making the event accessible to experienced distance runners, recreational athletes, families and younger competitors.
The Half Marathon will begin at 9am, followed by the 10K at 9.30am, while the Junior Race for under-11s is scheduled for 11.30am.
The half marathon covers 13.1 miles and features one mini lap followed by two full laps, while the 10K competitors will complete one lap. The junior event follows an out-and-back format.
Rather than being a completely flat road race, the Henley course provides a mixed-terrain and undulating challenge. The half marathon has approximately 98 metres of elevation, while the 10K has around 46 metres, providing runners with changes in gradient as they make their way around the course.
The setting is one of the major attractions. Runners will experience the countryside and riverside landscapes around Henley, with the course described by RunThrough as a fast, undulating trail route through the picturesque surroundings of the town.
Race organisers will mark the course with trail flags and A5 directional arrows, while marshals will be positioned around the route to provide guidance and encouragement.
There is also plenty waiting for competitors beyond the finish line. Every entrant receives a unique themed medal, while race packages include free race photographs, chip timed results and post-race goodies. The event village will also feature food and drink options and partner giveaways for runners after they complete their challenge.
Entry prices are listed at £35 for the Half Marathon, £30 for the 10K and £10 for the Junior Race.
A RunThrough Foundation place is also available for £80, with no fundraising requirement attached.
The organisers have also highlighted sustainability as an important part of their wider approach to event delivery, while runners can purchase an event T-shirt at a discounted rate when adding it to their entry.
For younger athletes, the Junior Race offers an opportunity to experience the excitement of an organised running event in a supportive environment. With the race specifically aimed at under-11s, the event provides a chance for families to make sport and physical activity part of their weekend.
For the more experienced runner, meanwhile, the Half Marathon presents a very different test. The combination of distance, elevation and mixed terrain means pacing, endurance and preparation will all be important. The 10K offers a shorter alternative for those wanting to test themselves without committing to the full half-marathon distance.
With the Thames, Henley countryside and Remenham Farm providing the backdrop, the event promises to combine competitive running with a strong family and community atmosphere.
The Henley River Trail Half Marathon, 10K and Junior Race will therefore offer something for almost every generation: a serious endurance challenge for half-marathon runners, a fast trail test for 10K competitors and an introduction to organised racing for the next generation of athletes.
With the start and finish located at the iconic Remenham Farm, runners will not simply be competing against the clock. They will be racing through one of the most recognisable sporting landscapes in the Henley area, making the event an appealing addition to the September running calendar.
