Jamboot FC triumph at Shuljar Foundation Charity Cup

Jamboot FC were crowned champions at the eighth annual Shuljar Foundation Charity Football Tournament, held at New River Sports Centre in North London.

The tournament was organised by three brothers in memory of their late brother, Shuljar Miah, who sadly passed away in 2011 after battling bowel cancer. Since his passing, the family has honoured his legacy by organising annual charitable initiatives, with football tournaments bringing communities together while raising funds for worthwhile causes.

This year’s event supported East London-based charity Lonely Orphans, with donations helping vulnerable families in Sudan, Palestine, the Uyghur community and Rohingya refugee camps.

Teams competed in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere, with players demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.

Spectators from different faiths, cultures and backgrounds came together to remember the late Shuljar while supporting humanitarian work overseas.

Fundraising Officer Imranur Rahman praised the occasion, saying: “This was a very well organised event, in which we saw people joining from different faiths, cultures and backgrounds to do something in the memory of Shuljar and also a charitable cause. The tournament was very well organised, and all the teams were respectful to others.”

Jamboot FC lifted the trophy after an impressive campaign, while Mustafa was recognised as the tournament’s top player. Kayden also received special recognition for his outstanding performances during the competition.

The annual tournament continues to grow in strength, combining competitive football with compassion and ensuring that Shuljar Miah’s legacy lives on through community spirit, generosity and charitable giving.
