The champions of the Village Cup 2026 were officially honoured at a special celebration in Ilford as the Ghungadia Maligram Trust brought players, organisers and supporters together to mark their success.
The event took place at Flame Banqueting on Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park, following the conclusion of an exciting Village Cup campaign.
The celebration was an opportunity to recognise the champions and acknowledge the commitment, teamwork and determination that had driven their success throughout the competition.
The celebration was organised by the Ghungadia Maligram Trust, with President Habibur Rahman Moyna, Secretary General Abedur Rahman Shimu and Treasurer Luman Ahmed (Alom) among those leading the event.
They said: “The Village Cup is a celebration of sporting talent, friendship and community unity and the champions have shown what can be achieved through commitment, teamwork and determination
“It is wonderful to see the community come together to celebrate the players and their success.”
The gathering also provided an opportunity for players, families and supporters to reflect on the tournament and celebrate the memories created throughout the competition.
With the Village Cup 2026 champions now officially recognised, the celebrations marked a fitting conclusion to another chapter of grassroots sporting competition.
The tournament demonstrated the value of community sport in promoting teamwork, friendship, healthy competition and togetherness.
For the champions, the ceremony was a chance to celebrate their achievement and enjoy a moment of recognition for the hard work that ultimately delivered Village Cup glory.
Guests included the Speaker of Tower Hamlets and Nanu Miah and Rashid Ali from the Inner London Football League.
