Capital Kids Cricket (CKC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dal Babu as a Trustee, further strengthening the organisation’s leadership and commitment to community impact.
Dal Babu brings over three decades of experience from the Metropolitan Police Service, where he held a number of senior leadership roles, including Borough Commander. He is widely respected for his work in community engagement, diversity, and inclusion.
On this appointment Dal Babu said, “I am delighted to join Capital Kids Cricket as a Trustee. I have seen first-hand the incredible impact the organisation has had over many years in transforming young lives through cricket.
CKC’s work in bringing communities together and providing positive opportunities for young people is more important than ever, and I look forward to supporting its continued growth and impact.”
Kalyan Kumar, Chair of Capital Kids Cricket, said, “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Dal Babu to our Board of Trustees. His wealth of experience, particularly in community leadership and public service, will be invaluable as we continue to expand our reach and impact across London.
His long-standing association with CKC and deep understanding of the communities we serve make him a perfect fit for our organisation.”
A Longstanding Connection with CKC
Dal Babu has been associated with Capital Kids Cricket for over 20 years, supporting its work in engaging young people through sport and regularly attending key events, including recent William Greaves Trophy Finals at Lord’s.
His connection to CKC dates back to 2006, when while serving with the Metropolitan Police Service he supported a community cricket initiative in Tower Hamlets aimed at reducing youth crime and encouraging participation in sport.
That same initiative brought Shahidul Alam Ratan, CEO of CKC to London for a three-month project, marking the beginning of a journey that would later see him lead the organisation.
The appointment of Dal Babu further strengthens CKC’s strategic focus on:
– Youth development
– Community cohesion
– Inclusion and diversity
– Using sport as a tool for positive social change
Shahidul Alam Ratan, CEO of Capital Kids Cricket, said, “This appointment is very special for me personally. My journey with Capital Kids Cricket began in 2006 through a three month Metropolitan Police project, when Dal Babu was Borough Commander in Tower Hamlets. After that project, I returned to my role with the Bangladesh Cricket Board and later worked in Malaysia, but the experience stayed with me and brought me back to CKC in 2008 where I have continued ever since. Welcoming Dal Babu now as a Trustee is a powerful full-circle moment, and it reflects the long-term impact of partnerships that truly invest in young people and communities.”
