The Women’s Museum’s new programme, Materiality of Memory, launched in March and amidst a warm reception to the works by Abel Holsborough and Ruth Ewan.
Abel’s work, in collaboration with the Barking Community Cinema, is a moving image commission using films from Valence House archives.
Ruth’s work is an archival and participatory project inspired by the Ford Factory Sewing Machinists’ Strikes of 1968 and 1984-85.
Both encourages the visitor to explore how memories are collected and preserved.
The exhibition is FREE and runs until December 2026.
