East London Bus Drivers Park The Bus For Charity

Poplar Workhouse was abuzz with excitement as East London bus drivers showcased their footballing skills in a spirited 5 a side charity tournament.

A total of 10 teams participated in the event, with WH City Tour Drivers emerging victorious after a hard fought 2-0 win against Legend Drivers in the final.

The day was not only about friendly competition but also about supporting a good cause. The tournament raised an impressive £3,357 for local charities, highlighting the community spirit of East London’s transport workers.

On behalf of the events management team tournament co-ordinator Abdul Hussain praised the camaraderie and effort shown by all participants, “This event brought together drivers from across East London to bond, compete, and raise money for a worthy cause. The level of skill and sportsmanship was fantastic.”

Rashid Ali, Chairman of the Inner London Football League, also attended the event and applauded its success, “The passion and dedication on display today were inspiring. These tournaments show how football can unite communities while making a real difference. Congratulations to WH City Tour Drivers on a well-deserved win!”

The event was packed with thrilling matches, friendly banter, and great food, making it a memorable day for players and spectators alike.

With the funds raised going towards supporting charity, this year’s tournament was a shining example of how sport can bring communities together for a common purpose.
