Legends Muay Thai Dagenham Youth Camp Launch

Building Champions Beyond the Ring

A powerful new initiative is set to launch in East London that promises to teach kids how to fight and aims to shape character, build resilience, and boost self confidence.

Starting Sunday, 3rd August, Legends Muay Thai will begin weekly sessions for children and young people at Tasnim Jamia Masjid, Rainham Road, Dagenham.

The training sessions will run every Sunday from 9:30am to 10:30am, at an affordable rate of just £25 per month. Open to boys aged 5 to 15 and girls aged 5 to 10, the programme offers a safe, inclusive environment where children can learn the art of Muay Thai — a traditional Thai martial art known as the “Art of Eight Limbs” due to its combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins.

But this is not just about combat. “Muay Thai isn’t just about striking or sparring, it’s about developing confidence, discipline, and inner strength,” said Ashwaad Uddin, lead coach at Legends Muay Thai.

“We want to give our young people the tools to protect themselves, but more importantly, we’re helping them build resilience, focus, and respect that they can carry through every area of life.”

The programme will be hosted at Tasnim Jamia Masjid, a hub of community learning and engagement in Dagenham. The organisers believe that providing martial arts training in a faith based setting strengthens the connection between physical health, mental well being, and spiritual growth.

Parents are encouraged to enrol early, as spaces are limited and interest is already growing through community word of mouth and WhatsApp enquiries.

Registration and further details can be obtained via WhatsApp on 07853 168116.

What is Muay Thai?

Originating in Thailand, Muay Thai is a centuries old combat sport that blends tradition, technique, and toughness. Unlike Western boxing, which relies on punches, Muay Thai uses eight contact points — punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes – making it one of the most physically complete martial arts in the world. For young people, Muay Thai is especially beneficial for improving cardiovascular fitness, coordination, self control, and goal setting.

Ashwaad Uddin, who has trained under some of the UK’s top Muay Thai practitioners, brings years of experience in both coaching and youth mentoring. “It’s not about violence, it’s about values,” he added.

As knife crime and mental health challenges continue to impact youth across London, Legends Muay Thai stands out as a positive alternative, equipping the next generation with the mindset and tools they need to face life with strength and purpose.
