London Enterprise Academy Attendance Challenge Cup 2026

The LEA Dragons were crowned the first ever Attendance Challenge Cup champions after producing a remarkable comeback victory in a memorable final at London Enterprise Academy.

Created to celebrate the importance of school attendance through the power of sport, the inaugural tournament brought together students whose commitment to education matched their passion for football. While the competition produced plenty of skill, excitement and teamwork, the biggest winner was the message that attendance wins every time.

Some victories begin long before the whistle blows and consistent attendance rarely attracts headlines, yet it remains one of the strongest predictors of academic achievement, confidence, wellbeing and future opportunity.

Every 100% attendance record represents months of early mornings, resilience, discipline and commitment, supported by families, teachers and school staff.

The Dragons demonstrated those same qualities throughout the competition.

Refusing to give up after falling behind, they battled back with determination, excellent teamwork and composure to lift the trophy and become the Academy’s first Attendance Challenge Cup champions.

Football and education share many of the same values. Every pass matters, every player contributes and every minute counts. Likewise, every lesson builds knowledge, every school day develops confidence and every student’s contribution strengthens the school community.

The tournament showcased how the lessons learned on the pitch can inspire success in the classroom.

The competition was organised by the Academy’s Attendance Team, Farjana Naima and Emdad Rahman, with the aim of recognising attendance excellence while inspiring others to improve.

Naima said: “Attendance is the foundation of success. This competition was designed to celebrate students who consistently show commitment and to inspire others through football. We hope every student leaves believing that showing up every day is the first step towards achieving their ambitions.”

Special guest Muhi Mikdad joined the celebrations, presenting awards and congratulating participants on their enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

Headteacher Ashid Ali praised the initiative.

“The Attendance Challenge Cup has been an outstanding success,” he said. “It has generated genuine excitement across the Academy while reinforcing the importance of excellent attendance. We are proud to celebrate students who demonstrate commitment, resilience and teamwork every single day.”

With attendance remaining a national challenge, organisers say the Attendance Challenge Cup will become an annual fixture, growing into an even bigger celebration that motivates young people through the universal language of football.

The final whistle may have ended the tournament, but its message will continue throughout the year: success starts by showing up. Every day matters, every lesson counts, and every student has the opportunity to become a champion.
