Capital Kids Cricket is proud to announce England cricketer Maia Bouchier as the charity’s new Honorary President, succeeding cricketing great and former England captain Nasser Hussain. Maia brings with her a strong passion for inspiring young people, widening access to the game, and promoting opportunities for women and girls in cricket.
Taking on the role, Maia said, “I’m incredibly proud to join Capital Kids Cricket as their new Honorary President. It’s a real honour and privilege to take over this role from a true legend of the game – former England captain Nasser Hussain OBE.
“Capital Kids Cricket has been doing amazing work for over 36 years, supporting thousands of young people across inner London — especially girls and women – through the power of cricket. I’m truly inspired by their commitment and impact. I still remember being a teenager and taking part in the county residential festivals at Arundel Castle, organised by CKC. I’m looking forward to visiting CKC projects, meeting the young players, and supporting the charity wherever I can in my free time. Together, I believe we can make a real difference. I’m excited for what’s ahead — let’s keep growing the game and changing lives through cricket.”
Kalyan Kumar, Chairman of Capital Kids Cricket, expressed his excitement about the appointment: “We are thrilled to welcome Maia Bouchier as our new President. Many of us have watched her journey from a talented London teenager to an England international, and her example will inspire thousands of young people across our communities, especially girls. We are deeply grateful to Nasser Hussain for his outstanding service and guidance, and we’re confident Maia will carry the baton forward and help CKC reach new heights.”
CEO Shahidul Alam Ratan added: “I have known Maia since her teenage years and have watched her journey with pride, from a talented young player to an England international. Having her join CKC as our Honorary President is not only an honour for us but also an inspiration for the thousands of young people we work with. Maia’s passion, energy, and commitment will be a launching pad for CKC’s next chapter of exciting growth. We are deeply grateful to our recent past president, Nasser Hussain, for his invaluable contributions and inspiration. I am confident Maia will carry the baton forward and raise the bar even higher.”
With Maia’s leadership, Capital Kids Cricket looks forward to continuing its mission of empowering young people through cricket, building on more than three decades of impactful work in London’s communities.
