Football takes centre stage at Mile End Stadium on Saturday 20 December 2025, with a 1pm kick off for the Greater Sylhet Charity Shield, a matchday built on competition, culture and compassion.

Eight proud regions come together in a festival of football, as the matchday draw sets up a compelling sequence of fixtures: Beanibazar v Balagonj, Moulvibazar v Osmaninagar, Bishwanath v Chattak, and Jagannathpur v Golapganj.

Each tie promises intensity, local pride and fast paced football, with players expected to bring flair, discipline and no shortage of desire.

Beyond results, the Shield carries a deeper purpose. Chase Peace, established in 2020, are raising funds in partnership with 13 Rivers Trust, using the universal language of football to promote unity, wellbeing and opportunity.

The stands will reflect that same spirit, with food, teas and community stalls creating a welcoming matchday atmosphere for families and supporters alike.

On the pitch, organisers expect high tempo play, quick transitions and committed defending, with set pieces likely to prove decisive as teams balance attacking ambition with tournament discipline. Bragging rights matter, but so does sportsmanship.

The organisers commented: “This Shield is lifting silverware and also about bringing communities together, supporting vital causes, and showing how football can lead with values as well as passion.”

The event is supported by a strong lineup of sponsors, including Banglatown, Burgers LDN, Raj Mahal, JS Estates, PFC East, Auto King, Miami Carwash, 13 Rivers Trust, Mowchi, Smart Move, PEC East, Transitions, HUB Management Ltd, whose backing helps turn purpose into action.

Abu Mumin from 13 Rivers Trust added, “Events like the Greater Sylhet Charity Shield show how sport can do far more than entertain.

“Football creates a shared space where differences fade, conversations begin and trust is built.

“At 13 Rivers Trust, we believe real change starts when communities come together with purpose, and this Charity Shield is a powerful example of unity, wellbeing and hope.”

With teams representing Bishwanath, Balagonj, Beanibazar, Chattak, Golapganj, Jagannathpur, Osmani Nagar and Moulvibazar, the Greater Sylhet Charity Shield promises a memorable day where football drives peace, pride and progress.
