Memorial Cup Draw Sets Stage for Inspiring Day of Football

Excitement is building ahead of the Mawlana Thohur Uddin Memorial Cup 2026, with the official draw now completed for what promises to be a memorable celebration of football, community and charitable giving.

The tournament, taking place on Sunday 21 June 2026 at The Workhouse, E14 0AF, will bring together teams representing year groups from 2006 through to 2026. Organised in memory of the late Mawlana Thohur Uddin, the event continues to honour his lifelong commitment to education, faith and community service.

Representatives gathered to witness the draw, which paired teams and sparked friendly anticipation ahead of kick
off. The competition has rapidly become a highlight of the community sporting calendar, uniting former students, families and supporters for a day of football with purpose.

Funds raised from the tournament will support an education project in Mawlana Thohur Uddin’s village in Bangladesh, continuing a legacy that has already seen significant progress made towards the development of a new girls’ school .

Tournament founder Arif Abdurrahman was joined by teacher Amin Khan and former student Sayed Rahman at the Memorial Cup draw.

He said: “The Memorial Cup brings generations together, strengthens community bonds and allows us to honour the remarkable legacy of Mawlana Thohur Uddin through meaningful action. Every player, volunteer, sponsor and supporter is helping to create something that will benefit others for years to come.”

With teams now knowing their opponents, attention turns to the pitch as players prepare for a day of competitive football, friendship and fundraising.

Organisers are encouraging spectators, families and well wishers to attend, support the teams and contribute towards a project that continues to transform lives.

As the countdown continues, the Mawlana Thohur Uddin Memorial Cup once again demonstrates how sport can unite communities while creating a lasting impact far beyond the final whistle.
