Charity Double Header At Mile End Stadium

In Aid of Amratoli Eco Village, Sylhet

A vibrant evening of football, friendship, and community spirit lit up Mile End Stadium as supporters gathered for a special charity event raising funds for the Amratoli Eco Village project in Bangladesh. With two competitive fixtures on the card – Shapla Youth Force v Jagannathpur followed by Shadwell FC Legends v MM Charity Group, spectators were treated to drama, goals, and a shared commitment to a meaningful cause.

Shapla Youth Force 2–2 Jagannathpur

Shapla Youth Force began the night’s action with an energetic and assertive performance, eventually drawing 2–2 with a resilient Jagannathpur side.

Shishu Miah stole the spotlight early on, striking twice in quick succession to put Shapla 2–0 ahead. His direct running and sharp movement repeatedly unsettled the Jagannathpur defence, and he came agonisingly close to securing a hat trick as further chances flashed wide.

Shapla dominated much of the first half, thanks in large part to midfield maestro Nasim Ahmed, who dictated the tempo with assurance and composure. Behind him, Sana Miah surged forward and Goya’s miah marshalled from defence, constantly initiating attacks and keeping Jagannathpur pinned back.

The second half, however, swung in a different direction. Jagannathpur’s Zakir Khan stepped up aggressively taking the game to the opponents and coming close with three long range efforts, while creative influence Jamal Rahman began to pull the strings. The improvement in tempo and attacking surge quickly told with Jowel Miah halving the deficit with a tidy, controlled finish.

As the clock ticked toward full time, the pressure mounted. Deep into stoppage time, Jamal Rahman struck a dramatic equaliser, rounding off an engrossing contest that ended all square.

In the second match, the Shadwell FC Legends secured victory over MM Charity Group in a spirited encounter shaped by experience, tempo, and clinical finishing.

The Legends used their cohesion and nous to take control of the match, while MM Charity Group, backed by vocal supporters, worked tirelessly to keep the game competitive. The fixture embodied the evening’s purpose: committed football played in the name of community uplift.

A Cause That Brings Communities Together

The charity event shines a spotlight on the Amratoli Eco Village, a forward-thinking development initiative aiming to transform rural life in Sylhet. The project focuses on sustainable living; clean water systems, renewable energy, eco-friendly housing, and agricultural training designed to empower families for generations.

Project lead Aftar Ali expressed gratitude and ambition, noting that the initiative “lays the groundwork for healthier, more sustainable communities across Bangladesh.” He emphasised that every act of support whether arge or small, helps shape a brighter, more resilient future.

From MM Charity Group, Helal Uddin highlighted the deeper meaning behind the evening, saying the event demonstrated how football can unify people behind a shared mission of progress and compassion.

The night brought together families, supporters, former players, and local leaders, all contributing to the vision of a greener, fairer world.

A touch of class from the organisers saw community icon Dawlath Khan Babul, who is battling cancer attend as a special guest.
