MCR 2025: A Day of Fitness, Faith, and Community Spirit

Hundreds of runners and supporters gathered in Victoria Park this morning for the 12th Annual Muslim Charity Run, organised by the East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre.

The 5K run began with a community warm-up at 10.00am and the race started at 10.30am, bringing together more than 40 charities and community groups in a vibrant celebration of fitness, unity, and giving.

The annual event has become a highlight in the East London Muslim calendar, raising thousands of pounds for vital causes across the UK and abroad, from local youth projects, food banks and refugee support to international humanitarian relief.

The winners awards ceremony was led by Junaid Ahmed, CEO of the East London Mosque Trust, alongside trustees, imams, and Lutfur Rahman, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, who presented medals to this year’s winners.

Junaid Ahmed, CEO, East London Mosque Trust said: “This is the 12th year the Muslim charity run has been operating in Victoria Park and over the years, through this run, we’ve managed to raise over 1.2 million pounds for the community, for the British society, and as I said at the introduction, Muslims are people who bring benefit to society.”

Tower Hamlets Executive Mayor Lutfur Rahman added, “Well done to each and every one of you, especially to the youngsters and the elders and the community at large for participating today.”

A special mention was given to the oldest participant, aged 94, who completed the full course; a shining example of lifelong dedication and health.
