Maulana Asad Uddin Awarded The Freedom Of The City Of London for

Maulana Asad Uddin has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London for Leadership in the Charity Sector.

Maulana Asad Uddin, founder of Community Outreach charity and Imam of the East End Islamic Centre on Plashet Road, London, has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contribution to the charity sector.

The 41-year-old philanthropist and Imam attended the formal ceremony at the historic Guildhall on Wednesday 17 December 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, (Maulana) Asad Uddin said:

“I am deeply honoured that the Freedom Committee recognises my charity work, which has had a positive impact on so many people’s lives throughout the world.”

He added: “I accept this award in memory of my late father, and with heartfelt thanks to my mother, my family, and our amazing team who made this possible.”

Since its inspection Community Outreach in 2013, it has delivered a wide range of humanitarian and development initiatives, addressing critical issues including poverty alleviation, access to clean water, livelihood projects, medical aid, and youth engagement.

The charity places a strong emphasis on education and empowerment, delivering sustainable projects in Uganda, Kenya, Bangladesh, and other regions across the world, supporting vulnerable communities and fostering long-term social impact.

The London Freedom Awards refer to the ancient tradition of granting the Freedom of the City of London, the highest honour bestowed by the City Government. The award recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions to public life.
